TV & FILM

Sony has been languishing as a studio for several years now, watching as seemingly every other studio gets into the franchise business. Well, their first non-Spider-Man stab at that comes this August when they debut their adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. The hope is that this will be the first in a series of films based on King's Gunslinger novels, and if these three new TV spots are any indication, they might just have a hit on their hands.
Idris Elba—the man Roger Moore said wasn't "English" enough to play James Bond—takes on the role of Gunslinger Roland Deschain while Matthew McConaughey steps into the shoes of his antagonist, The Man in Black, and these three spots focus on their dynamic and the fireworks we can expect when these two finally face off.
Check out the other two spots below—one focused on Elba's character and the other on McConaughey's—and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. As someone who gave up on this book series back when it was only a trilogy, I must admit this has me wanting to read the books again... although, with at least one movie on the way, I may not even have to. The Dark Tower opens in theaters on August 4.
