CELEBRITIES
bill-swift - October 20, 2012
It's that time of year when the leaves start changing (depending on where you live I guess), the air is crisp, and freakishly tall guys start wearing shorts and tank tops despite the weather getting colder. Yep, the 2012-13 college basketball season is right around the corner
Along with the start of the season comes the preseason rankings, and earlier this week the Coaches Poll came out. Taking the #1 spot is not the reigning national champion Kentucky Wildcats, but the Indiana Hoosiers.
Tom Crean's Hoosiers return four starters from a squad that won 27 games last season and made it to the Sweet Sixteen, where they lost to the eventual champions. After getting beaten on by the other Big Ten schools last season and going 11-7 in conferece, the Hoosiers expect to be dishing out the beatings themselves behind National Player of the Year candidate Cody Zeller.
Following the Hoosiers at No. 2 is Louisville with the defending national champion Wildcats at No. 3. It may seem strange to see them not at No. 1, but when you do not return a single starter it's kind of hard to say you deserve the top spot; third spot maybe, but not the top one. But think about it, their entire starting five leaves and they're still ranked third? That's the definition of reloading.
Rounding out the top five is Ohio State at No. 4 and Michigan at No.5, with North Carolina State, Kansas, Duke, Syracuse, and Florida finishing out the top 10 in that order.
