Here it comes, Ego-friends. Halloween 2016 is close enough to smell the piss-poor cheap candy. You know what that means: miserable ol’ Scroogetastic turning off all their lights and pretending they’re not in, assholes taking advantage of this whole scary clown thing that’s been going on, and umpteen billion slutty Harley Quinns.

What else does it mean? Superfluous shoehorned ‘Halloween specials,’ that’s what. And we’re not talking the Treehouse of Horror Simpsons re-runs that usually get shown in the middle of summer. Video games live for this sort of stuff (see Street Fighter V’s spooktacular update), because it’s an easy way to lure players back in and to hawk some cosmetic shite in the process.

If the game itself is of a horror bent, so much the better. That’s Halloweenception, right there.

Dead by Daylight has been a pretty big deal of late. In this multiplayer screw-your-friends-over ‘em up, one player is the killer while the others are his dumbass teen victims. The ‘prey’ try to achieve their objective before they all get strung up by their scrotes. It’s an all-round good time, an interesting concept backed up by solid execution, and it’s got itself quite a following.

This Halloween, the DbD devs are treating us to the perfect slice of extra content: the addition of horror icon Michael Myers to the roster of playable killers. He’s available on Steam now, along with a new survivor and spangly new map in Haddonfield. Check out the trailer above.
